My name is Tara Olson and I would like to share with you a little about myself and my journey towards wellness and vitality with you.
In 2009 I was introduced to eating clean by Robb Wolf at a nutrition seminar. What that consisted of was eliminating grains, dairy, gluten, legumes and added sugars from my daily diet, commonly referred to as the Paleo diet. I was not sure how I would survive without my daily oatmeal and cottage cheese but I committed to giving it a try.
The idea behind clean eating is that I would try to eat the way our ancestors did. High quality protein, lots of vegetables, some fruit, little starch and no added sugars. After implementing these changes to my diet, I was astounded at the way I felt! I truly had no idea how bad I felt before I made these changes. This path obviously did more than change me physically. It had dramatic positive effects internally as well. My body composition changed, my blood work improved and I have never felt better. Naturally, I wanted to share my results and knowledge of the power of good nutrition with everyone I came into contact with! So, over the next 5 years, via the CrossFit community, I did just that. I was fortunate enough to work with some amazing coaches and all around great people. Through those experiences I discovered my passion was to help others realize their potential through nutrition and exercise.
As I researched my way through the benefits of eating real food I began to understand that there was more to it than simply “just cleaning up one's diet.” Sure, that is a huge part of taking back your health, but I wanted to know WHY. Why does eating a particular food help or hurt me? Why are folks who are eating clean still showing signs of poor health and loss of vitality? This is what led me to the NTA and their Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Program. The skills and education that I gained during the course were remarkable. To put it quite simply, I have been blown away by the body's innate intelligence and ability to heal itself through nutrition. My goal is to empower others to take back their health and regain their vitality. Becoming a part of the NTA community and starting my own Nutritional Therapy practice has provided me with the ability, knowledge, and resources to help others on their journey to BE NOURISHED and BE WELL.
